To assist in the dissemination of the preparedness and planning tool to interested agencies helping in Haiti the University of San Carlos in Guatemala collected more than 300 technical papers from leading institutions, journals and conference proceedings – with full coverage from 1980 to the present – in research topics related to disaster mitigation such as cluster sample surveys of health , emergency preparedness program, evolution of vulnerable communities, future of earthquake engineering, hazard identification and evaluation in a local community, hazard mitigation on hospitals, hospital emergency preparedness, impact of earthquakes, information technology in disaster management, management of hazardous installations, monitor the health status of the population, prevention of accidents involving hazardous substances, reframing disaster policy, roles of community organizations, safety policy planning, seismology to seismic hazard reduction, training, drills and exercises, and vaccination status. These documents are definite training modules and guidelines to educate people in the complex aspects and issues related to earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes: providing protection to people and buildings.
